For the last 28 years, first obtaining my life insurance license in 1995, then obtaining my Series 6 securities license in 1998, and most recently obtaining my Series 65 securities license in 2021, I have been helping families and individuals strategically prepare for retirement by using reliable, investment strategies, including portfolio management, insurance products, and investment advisory products and services.
In retirement, retirees simply want one thing: confidence to live the lifestyle they’ve enjoyed before retirement, and to enjoy that lifestyle for the rest of their lives. But continuous market volatility has threatened retirement savings that were previously thought to be less risky. My strategies include a focus on capital and principal preservation, retirement income, health and long-term care mitigation strategies, wealth building, and asset growth optimization.
Most people believe that in retirement they will live off their investments when in reality, retirees could use an income plan. One of the biggest losses in retirement is the loss of your paycheck. For years they have been accumulating their retirement nest egg while working. And market volatility generally has less impact on investors’ portfolios during their accumulation years because they have time to recover from negative results in the markets before they start taking distributions. They were still living off of their paycheck. But when you retire and you quit collecting your paycheck and start using your retirement nest egg, suddenly your entire nest egg could be at risk and subject to volatility, and sadly your lifestyle is also subject to this volatility. I have been helping people create strategies designed to help replace their paycheck or a portion of their paycheck with income-driven solutions.
My dad as a former FBI agent and constitutional attorney taught me the importance of developing a keen observation of the facts, keeping your emotions out of your decisions, developing a well-thought-out plan, and then deploying the plan. My mom was a true ‘Southern Bell’ who taught her children the importance of southern charm and social graces, and to treat each person that crosses your path with dignity and respect. As a retirement planning professional and financial advisor, I strive daily to incorporate those qualities ingrained in me by my parents and place them into every planning session.
With over 28 years in the financial industry, I have learned that everyone can pursue true wealth. To almost everyone, ‘wealth’ symbolizes the vast possessions we accumulate throughout the course of a lifetime – our “good stuff”. The imperative word here is “accumulate”. If we do not properly preserve our capital during our retirement then our ‘wealth’ suffers. That is why when I meet with clients and prospects and review their portfolios my paramount concern is helping them determine what kind of lifestyle they would like in retirement and if they have enough resources to help generate the income needed to help provide the lifestyle they are hoping for the rest of their lives.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions regarding income planning or retirement planning strategies.
Sincerely,
Randy Dillard
